Post 10148 takes pride in "still serving" through the support of various Charities, Community Involvement and Patriotic Events

The Post sponsored a Minor team from the Space Coast Little League. 

Post 10148 held its 4th golf tournament benefiting the Space Coast Honor Flight. Due to the outstanding support and participation, we were able to present SCHF a check for $4,000.

Post 10148 received a one-page write-up in this issue of VFW Magazine.

The VFW opened to the public for the day. Breakfast sandwiched were made available starting at 0700 to the crowds there for Surfing Mingle and Surfing Santas

Florida weather graced us with 50 deg temperatures, but we still had a great turnout. Special guests this year included keynote speaker Larry Jackson, an Ambassador for the Tunnel To Towers Foundation and once again, we are honored to have our National Colors presented by members of the Cocoa Beach High School JROTC. We presented checks to both Tunnel to Towers ($1300) and our Voice of Democracy winner Braelyn Strandbakke ($200). The event was completed with a great luncheon.

The Post received numerous Voice of Democracy entries and a panel of judges selected Braelyn Strandbakke as our finalist based on her treatment of the topic "How do I show patriotism and support our country" and a great oral presentation.

The Post sponsored one of the Minor teams from the Space Coast Little League. They had a fantastic start and their season runs through December 1st.

A Great observance was held at 1100 at the Post. Our Guest Speaker was George Taylor, President of National Homeless Veterans Support and a combat vet himself. The event was bookended by a stellar performance of the CBHS Color Guard. The attendance estimate was just over 100. This year we were covered in both the Cocoa Beach Explorer and the City newsletter.

The Post presented the Post 10148 JROTC Cadet of the Year Award to CBHS JROTC Cadet Shelby Kennerly at 0900 in the CBHS Performing Arts Center.

The Post held its annual beach cleanup & hot dog roast. CBHS JROTC partnered with us to make it a great day.

We raised over $3000 for the Space Coast Honor Flight

The Auxiliary provided much needed financial support to procure necessary items such as meals and personal items to homeless veterans in the greater Cocoa Beach area. 

Our Veteran's Day ceremony was announced in several City news items resulting in a great crowd. The Cocoa HS JROTC provided Color Guard services and special guests - Marine veterans of the Battle of Fallujah - provided the guest speaker. Included in the ceremony was a special presentation by Commander Dean to Dennis Fontecchio, and family, in remembrance of his son KIA in Fallujah.

20th Anniversary Reunion 2nd Battle of Fallujah
First Battalion Third Marines - Lava Dogs- gathered in Cocoa Beach over Veterans' Day weekend. The Post was honored to provide support and participate in this event. Kickoff was Friday night at the Post followed Saturday by golf and Dennis' famous Porketta dinner back at the Post. On Sunday Post members were included in the USMC Birthday luncheon. A full Veteran' Day ceremony was held on Monday followed by lunch at Jonathons.

Post member Gregg Martin's contributions consisted of several talks and numerous discussions and meetings on mental health. The Congress, held in the Ukraine was kicked off by President Zelensky, followed by the First Lady, then the Minister of Defense. 

MGen Gregg Martin was the guest speaker at a well-attended Memorial Day Celebration held at the Post 5/28/2024. Over 40 people crowded onto the outside deck to hear the program presented. The event was concluded with a Post sponsored cookout and potluck luncheon.

The Post and Auxiliary made donations to the annual Fundraiser Golf Outing. The Post and Auxiliary also participated in the May 11th tournament, fielding 3 foursomes. 

Post 10148 in partnership with the CBHS JROTC held a "Beach Cleanup" day. Post member James coordinated the event that resulted in the collection and disposal of over 150 lbs. of beach trash. The Post hosted an afternoon BBQ for all the participants/volunteers.
